How to Craft a Lodestone in Minecraft

how to craft a lodestone

In this, we will show you how to craft a Lodestone!

Minecraft is a great game, one of the greatest of all time. But sometimes, it can be very frustrating to play Minecraft, and a principal reason for the frustration of most survival players is that they forget the coordinates. Of course, many mods and clients in the market let you create waypoints to places, whether your base or even a desert temple.

Still, many players like me don’t want to tamper with the vanilla gameplay by adding mods. Another alternative solution to this problem is to write the coordinates down on a notepad. But it’s a hassle for most people.

The Minecraft community needed a simple way to fix this problem, and for years it was a topic of discussion in the community. After a long discussion,  Mojang finally added an elementary block in the 1.16 Nether Update to mark locations in the game itself. It was called “Lodestone.”

With the addition of lodestones in the game, it became straightforward for players to mark the location of any monument or landscape.

What is a Lodestone?

A Lodestone is a block that can alter where the compass points in a world and can be used in all three dimensions. It can be recognized by an enchanting effect on the compass. This can be used in the Nether and End dimensions.

How to craft a Lodestone?

The items needed to craft a lodestone are:

i) A netherite ingot
ii) 8 Chiselled Stone Bricks
iii) A Crafting Table

Now let’s learn how to craft one ourselves.
Step 1: Open your crafting table.
Step 2: Place the netherite ingot in the middle.

Step 3: Place the eight chiseled stone bricks around the netherite ingot.

Step 4: Take your Lodestone.
Boom! Your Lodestone is ready!!!

Now that you’ve got your GPS System in Minecraft let’s learn some more interesting facts about the lodestone.

More about Lodestones

~ In the real world, lodestone is a magnetic mineral that attracts iron. Lodestone is just another name for naturally occurring magnets.

~ Lodestones were discovered in the 6th century BC.

~ Lodestone was ‘Block of the week’ in the 2nd week of August 2020.
~ If a lodestone is broken or is in a different dimension than the player, the compass starts spinning randomly, as an ordinary compass spins in the Nether or the End.

~ It can also be found in chests in Bastion Remnants.

~ Despite being made from netherite, lodestones are not immune to fire or lava.

~ Lodestones can easily be broken using a wooden pickaxe!

~ A lodestone can be pushed or pulled by a piston, thus making its way into the Redstone world.
~ When a player uses a compass on a lodestone, they get the achievement “Country Lode, Take Me Home,” which surprisingly refers to the lyrics of the song “Take me home, Country roads” by John Denver.

Interesting right?

Conclusion

Despite being a little expensive to make, the lodestone can be a convenient block if you always forget the coordinates to your base or a monument. The best thing is that it can also be used in the Nether and End.

Since it can be pushed and pulled by a piston,  It can also be very well used as a Redstone component. Maybe we’ll see Mumbo Jumbo using lodestones in his next Redstone build! 😉
