Apart from looking awesome, the Beacons also provide the player with insane buffs that can be the game’s difference between life and death. Since they were added to the game, these Beacons have become integral to the Minecraft progression. It has become customary to kill the Wither before facing the Ender Dragon. The reward for killing the Wither is the Beacon.
The beacon shoots up a light into the sky, and this light is a signal that your beacon is up and running. Some of the buffs provided by the Beacon are Speed, Jump Boost, Haste, Regeneration, Resistance, and Strength! So why wouldn’t any Minecraft player want to have this in their base?
So in this in-depth tutorial, we will show you how you can craft and set up your Beacon in Minecraft.
Step #1: Acquiring Wither Skeleton Heads and Soul Sand
Before we start crafting the Beacon, we need the Nether Star, and the only way of getting the Nether star is by slaying the Wither Boss in Minecraft.
The Wither boss, unlike the Warden and Dragon, doesn’t spawn naturally; you have to go ahead and summon it on your own.
So to summon the Wither, you need some items, and in the first step, we’ll show you how to get those items.
First, head to the Nether, and find a Nether fortress. You’ll have to kill as many Wither Skeleton on the Nether Fortress as possible. There is a slight chance that these skeletons drop a skull, and we want three such skulls. So keep killing these monsters till you have three heads.
Then on your way out, gather some soul sand; we will need 4, to be exact.
Step #2: Summoning and defeating the Wither
Next, you must summon the wither by placing the acquired materials in the following way.
The Wither is a hard boss, and you will probably die, and your base will be destroyed if you fight near your bottom in the open. The Wither explosive attack is destructive, so we recommend heading down into the caves.
Create your little cave, a long line, with only two blocks through which you can run. This is made so the Wither does kill you, and you keep heading back, dealing damage with an arrow.
Once the other is killed, it will drop a Nether Star!
Step #3: Crafting the beacon
Now that you have the Nether Star, you’re almost ready to craft the beacon. But first, you need some glass blocks and some obsidian.
As you’ve already been to the nether, we assume you know how to get Obsidian, so we won’t show you how to get that.
Toss all the items on the crafting table and Voila! You have a Beacon!
Step #4: Setting up the Beacon
Having a Beacon isn’t enough; you now need to set it up.
To power a Beacon, you’ll need more blocks, which anyone should do, or a mix of ore blocks.
Place the ore blocks in a pyramid-like structure; the more levels you add to the Pyramid, the greater the effect’s vicinity. And that’s basically how you set the Beacon up. Now click on the Beacon and select the buff you want on it!
You can also place a colored glass block above the Beacon to get a colored Beacon light.
