Raids were a big part of the Minecraft Village and Pillage update. The addition of the Pillagers in the game set a ton for the things we would be getting into the future; no longer was Minecraft shying away from adding hard features. The Pillager raids are brutal, and if you’re not prepared, you’ll surely die.
The raid is filled with Pillagers, Ravagers, Evokers, and many other hostile mobs that won’t let you rest till you defeat every one of them. Defeating a raid may sound like a daunting task, and it is. But the reward for destroying these Pillagers is just as big as the task.
This quick guide will show you how to initiate a raid and beat them.
So let’s get right into it!
Visit a pillager outpost.
To initiate a raid in a village, you first need to have a bad omen on you. It is a status effect inflicted upon you when you kill one of the pillager’s heads. The Pillager’s head is instantly noticeable as it carries around a banner of his on its head. Killing him will give you a bad omen.
You can find this Pillager head quickly; whenever you start playing Minecraft and building a base, you will be visited by these Pillagers multiple times, just like the Wandering trader does. Three or Four Pillagers will come to greet you with their axes.
You can go to them if a party doesn’t come to you. They have outposts worldwide, mainly in the vicinity of Villages. You can explore your world until you find an outpost.
Enter the Village you want to initiate a raid in
Once you have a bad omen on you, visit the village that you want to have a raid in. Select a village far from your base, as you will need villagers for trading in the future; you don’t want to kill them off in a raid, especially if this is your first time.
And that’s it, kill the pillager’s head, get the bad omen, and enter a village!
Be ready!
The raid is brutal, as I said earlier. Multiple waves of enemies will come at you; with each wave, the number of mobs and their strength keep increasing. The raid becomes tough when the Ravagers start coming in large numbers. You can be killed in one hit by their attack if you don’t have armor on.
Make sure you have a shield, not just a shield, have multiple different shields on you. Multiple additional armor sets because the one you wear will be in the first few waves.
Trade at a discount!
Once you have defeated the raid, you will literally become the village’s hero. You just saved these innocent villagers from dying, and they will give you heavy discounts on their trades. Make the most of this offer!
