Minecraft live is the annual event held by the developers at Mojang to showcase the excellent new features they’ve been working on for the last few months. The event is wildly popular at this point, and every Minecraft player tunes into the event each year, eagerly waiting for the unveiling of the new Minecraft update!

The event starts with some fan clips, behind-the-scenes footage, skits, etc., to warm up the fans for the grand unveiling. And then we the Mob vote, a small election of sorts in which Mojang show off three new mobs and asks the community to vote for the one they like the most, and that one gets added.

And last but not least, we have the Update announcement, last year, we got the 1.19 Wild Update, and this year it will be 1.20. 

Minecraft Live 2022

The event, as always, will be held in October, on the 15th, to be precise. The event will be streamed live on the Youtube app; you can find the link to the Live event on Minecraft’s official page. And if you’re an avid fan, the event will likely appear in your recommendations.

Mob Vote

The Mob Vote has seen some change this year; each year, the Mob vote started on the day of the Live event, and the voting was live.

The voting took place over Twitter in an elimination match. The three mobs went against each other at first, and then the mob with the least amount of votes was dropped out of the race. Then the voting resumes again, and the mob that gets the most votes wins and gets added in the next Minecraft update.

We’ve gotten the Glow Squid and the Allay in the past two years!

The three mobs will be unveiled a few days before the event, so you can expect to see the first mob in the next few weeks.

As for the voting, it won’t be happening on the Twitter platform anymore, and that’s a change for the good. On Twitter, anyone could vote, including people who don’t play Minecraft. Twitter is filled to the brim with bots, making it easy for people to abuse the voting systems.

So this year, the Mojang team has decided to limit the votes; only those who own an official copy of Minecraft will be allowed to vote. The voting will take place from the Minecraft Launcher!

Next Update

The 1.20 update will be unveiled at the event. What does this update look like? Mojang is secretive, and they don’t allow any announcement before the event. But judging by the mood of the community, it is safe to say that the team will have to do something drastic.

They could not deliver on the promises, so they announced it last year. We hope the team brings in some great new features that will entertain us for months.
